Purna Pharmaceuticals is an independent Belgian company specialised in the manufacturing, from raw material to end-product, of non-sterile medicines, food supplements and cosmetics, namely of semi-solid preparations such as ointments, creams, pastes and gels, of liquid forms such as solutions, emulsions, suspensions, aerosols and of dry powders, under G.M.P conditions (Good Manufacturing Practice).

We do this as a contract manufacturer as well as for our own registered products and for export. Our strength is our customer-oriented flexibility, without affecting the quality. In order to be able to guarantee our flexibility and simultaneously maintain a high quality level we have constantly invested in new equipment (the oldest production machinery dates from 1999). With each machine acquisition the reproducibility assumes precedence in function of the process validation and the intrinsic capacity for producing high-quality products in a GMP environment.

Producing pharmaceuticals in a GMP environment also entails a strongly developed quality control and assurance environment (QC-QA) where a well-equipped laboratory, besides a routine in-process control system, is an excellent instrument for maintaining a high quality level.

For all the produced products, within the company there are facilities on hand for drawing up the registration documents for the domestic market and abroad. A separate department for Regulatory Affairs is present, and this can rely on the laboratory to finalise the technical files.

At the same time we can develop products and files thanks to our research and development department.

Profile

Over the years Purna Pharmaceuticals has blossomed to become a company with a built-over surface area of 10000 m², and the number of employees has now grown to 110. Although the last expansion dates from 2006 plans are continuously being made in order to meet the rising demand, at storage, production and packaging level as well as at quality level.

A great deal of the manufactured products are sold under our own label as a generic product, mainly on the export market. A growing number of specialities are sold on the Belgian market in the pharmacies, as well as a range of ingredients, namely catalysts with which the pharmacist can make various preparations.

Furthermore, there is a significant increase in contract manufacturing activity, through which we assume responsibility for the production for the Belgian, European and/or world market on behalf of quite a few multinationals and other companies.

Our internal policy structure has been conceived in such a way that we can quickly answer the customer’s demands or questions, while retaining a high quality level without, however, disappearing into bureaucratic delays. In this way, during recent years, we have managed to offer great flexibility and customer-oriented service, yet without compromising on the quality.
